Try qixo.com, and when you find the cheapest price, try going directly through that airline's site. Sometimes you can score deals when you purchase direct.

I always buy direct. Just about all airlines guarantee the lowest fare. I am comitted to AA. Have enough miles that I am Platinum for life.

So, you don't typically save money by going through and agent or consolidator until you get the car and/or hotel included. In which case, rock the orbitz, hotwire, and your local agent.

I've been buying through american express.. gives me double membership rewards points. Not always the cheapest, but when factoring in the points (which can be used to buy tickets), its generally the best deal.
