I love the AR-15, lets not turn this into a descussion about which one is better... But im looking for a AK47 that i can make into a tactical rifle. IE scope, light, handle, the works.

I want to do it cheaper then an AR, i know its possible. Im just looking for the right country to buy it from. AK's are made all over the world, but which ones/companys are good?

I have a Norinco chinese made, ive had it for 10 years. Flawless so far,
its loud as hell though. Get ear plugs.

 

Lancaster Arms makes a real nice one. Thats the one I have.

 

If/when I find a Norinco 56S in good shape, it's a bought bitch!

Arsenal from Bulgaria makes some of the best civilian model AK-47's in my opinion. The problem is they cost just as much as an AR-15. If you're looking to do it cheap, go with a WASR-10 from Romania. Just be sure to check for canted sights. I think they can also be modified to accept the Bulgarian magazines, which are a much better design.
