Maxed out on memory(only will hold 512) and a newer computer is probably the best choice like you said. I don't do much gaming but some other things that tend to take 10+ hours to crunch. I guess for my education though is there somewhere on the web I would be able to learn the differences between the two styles of processors?(slot A vs. Socket A ). Thanks for the info!

 

I think both are good chips but I did want to chime in on Tom's Hardware. This is the most AMD biased site I have ever seen. Even back when AMD was still pushing the crappy K62 and 3 Toms hardware said they were the better chip. Toms hardware sucks. Try http://www.anandtech.com. they are a much better and farier site.
