I thought this was pretty neat. Technology is amazing, but I was wondering if anyone know's how the holgram virtual idea works.

What the elvis image the real guy or was this a darn good stand in.

when the footage was shot, elvis was doing a solo number.

 

OK.. but how does the concept work on stage in front of a live audience... It was interesting is all, and good for ratings I am sure

 

they just project the holographic image from above.

that's why the camera was able to pan 360 around him. i.e. you could see him from every angle (front/back/side)

 

I disagree, I think that the live audience saw an impersonator on stage, On the video monitors, as well as live tv we saw Elvis super imposed.

When they showed them together from behind, it always looked far more real, and they were very careful with thier camera angles.

 

dunno....i wasn't in the audience.

but keep in mind that they had to downgrade the quality of the entire segment (i.e. they downgraded celine too)....which they wouldn't have had to do if elvis was super-imposed.

 

It gave me goosbumps it looked so real.

I am trying to find a clip on the internet to see again but so far no luck. In a couple of days I'd bet there will be a hundred.

 

we saw it again this morning in the office...looks great.

 

There is a clip on americanidol.com who partnered with itunes. It's very short clip.

 

That was very well done. I liked it.
