Anyone a big Macross fan? I am looking for a DVD set of BOTH the original Japanese series AND the corresponding American series (the American series is actually a morph of the original Macross series and two other non-related Japanese series). I know that such a set was available in VHS a while ago.
MAAAA KUUU ROSU!!
I am such a big fan i preorderd the remastered boxset at the 1st chance(which was 2years before it was released) try www.ebay.com and for all your macross needs www.macrossworld.com
man, I tried ebay and its so confusing because there are soooo many video sets floating around. I can't tell which are the American Series sets (Robotech), which are pure Japanese Originals, which are sequel-movies, or what! aghhh....
ok here is the run down, for dvds the only set you will want to get when it comes to the japanese series is the official set by animeigo. It is a 9dvd set that is hard to find in a single box setbut if you go to www.robotech.com you can order the 3 mini box sets. the robotech dvds i dont know much about because i don't like harmony gold
I agree, Harmony Gold completely butchered the original Macross series. I would get it just for sentimental purposes (I grew up watching it originally as the Robotech series).
But I still have confusion over the great variety of sequels that did follow (i.e., Macross 7, Macross Plus, etc., etc.).
on that www.robotech.com website, the DVD's they sell seem to be the "english" version, the one dubbed in english with the "massaged" harmony gold storyline to mesh with the latter 2 artificially added on "Robotech Masters" and "The New Generation" series. It's even boxed as "Robotech". Unless I'm looking at the wrong thing. I'm looking for the original Japanese version (in japanese), completely uncut, in its original form.
I was thinking more along the lines of this. This was on the inside over of the perfect collection CD. Although it says, "this is the only way that the original uncut episodes will ever be marketed..." This CD is several years old now and who knows...
