I have a client who since installing MSIE v6 keeps getting a minimised browser window appearing on her toolbar when using MSIE. I have checked her system thoroughly for virii, trojans, worms and there appears to be no problem in that regard.

Sometimes when surfing the net she claims that up to 2 or 3 of these appear and that you can't maximise them.

This problem has me stumped.

How does she stop this from happening?

If anybody who has had a similar experience can offer some advice it would be appreciated.

 

those are hidden popups...they sit there (usually on a negative screen position, that's why you can't see them) and create more popups ad infinitum.

 

If they're hidden pop-ups they're a useless concept because none of them can be maximised and you can't see any result or reason for them being there (i.e no other visible pop-ups appear). At their most effective they're just a waste of toolbar space.

So a pop-up killer is the only solution then?

Run the reference file updater to get the latest reference file then run Ad-Aware

I always click on them and hit Alt-F4. When I'm looking at porn any my boss comes by, it's the quickest way to close the browser.

http://www.lavasoft.de/ cleans a lot of it off, works great as mentioned above.

 

you failed to read what i wrote, specifically the part that you quoted me on. they sit and the background to create more popups. they are dificult to close as indicated by your post, so that makes them quite effective.
