Default another pc prob

whenever you hit ctrl+alt+del, you get a list of processes that are currently running on your PC. How do you figure out which ones are suppose to be running, which ones are garbage, etc.? Because I know there are uselss ones that are slowing down your PC.

in a somewhat related prob, lately I've been experiencing this strange phenomena. Whenever a window is active, the bar across the top of the window (say, IE, MS Word, any other software) is lit up, or bolded. If I just let the active window sit, it will suddenly become inactive (as when you hit "alt+tab" to cycle through active windows).

go into services under administrative tools and start disabling services. Change startup from automatic to manual. It won't let you disable the necessary services, and from discriptions of the services, you can pretty much tell which ones you need.

then go into the regedit and go to hkeylocalmachine/software/microsoft/windows/current version/run and delete stuff you don't need.

Do the same thing under the:
hkeycurrent user/software/microsoft/windows/current version/run

Your other problem is related to background programs which will solve itself after deleting stuff and rebooting.

You may want to make a backup of your registry.

Try and look for a download called Jv16 Power Tools, I had to download this cause my RegEdit did not work, I find this very easy to use because it lists starting programs, regristry edits and ect. It also tells you the name of the program and is easy to find what programs that you dont need that start up and continue running

Do a search on dogpile.com for each service you don't understand. it will bring up plenty of results.
