Another Prelude question
I have also heard the ATTS steals around 10 horses
do you think that would make much of a difference. If so would you take a bas emodel and have the extra horses or ATTS and have the better handling.

I had an SH before my stook... It handled great.... I could take corners pretty fast and not be too worried... quite honestly, I felt more comfortably taking fast corners in my SH than in my stook... I not to used to driving rwd quite yet... At least on a sports car that is...
ATTS is what sold on a Prelude, and that's after I swore I'd never buy another FWD car. It works amazingly well and virtually eliminates typical FWD understeer. I think that ATTS puts it in another class than other FWD cars. IMO, the handling advantages are more than worth any slight differences in power to the wheels. Don't forget that the Type SH has a few other nice extras...if my memory serves me correct (based on the '97 models), you also get much nicer wheels, a rear spoiler, lights in the doors, and leather wheel or shift knob.

If you're gonna put a turbo in it, you're probably better off getting the base cause you might end up having to take out the ATTS anyways when you put in a turbo. But the SH is much more fun if you like corners. The SH will not rob you of any HP. Contrary to popular belief it's also not much heavier. People have been saying couple hundred pounds but it's more like 50 pounds or something. I didn't care anyways.
I say get the SH. Everything is better. The suspension is better. ATTS is worth it by itself IMO.

My personal opinion is to go with the base, especially if you are going to plus size your tire and rims....also if you are going to mod the suspension, don't worry about the stiffer setup in the SH model vs. the base.
It's done before but is a bit challenging....get the 4ws system from a 92-94 model year Prelude and bolt it up to your 5th gen chassis.
I've driven the hell out of a 4ws 4th gen and a 5th gen SH model. The 4ws outperforms the ATTS in all aspects of taking turns and changing lanes.
My opinion.

There were two released versions of the best 5th generation Preludes in Japan.
JDM BB6 Prelude Type S - 220ps ATTS
JDM BB8 Prelude SiR S Spec - 220ps 1.5Way Helical LSD and 4WS
Now which one do you think is better? I've driven both before lots of times while I would've believe the SiR S Spec LSD had a closer match on with the JDM Integra Type R on winding roads and serious competition.
So for you guys out there thinking any further, if you can get a base model today and buy a proper racing LSD to compliment the car's amazing handling abilities instead of ATTS. Sorry but LSD is still the real thing, ATTS is nothing compared. Truth is, with or without ATTS it really depends on the driver.
Not the car, because you seriously cannot feel the difference on the road but on the track the time tells the difference. Still, you can't feel it ... Those who say it feels different is bullshit. It's not LSD, it's just an electronic torque transferring system.
