Well, I don't imagine he said "Hilter" either, and I hope he said "cuz they like convinced anybody" which is still horrible grammar. The proper phrase should have been "Hitler and Caesar were considered great speech givers because of their ability to convince everyone". It should also be noted that Caesar was both a person (Gaius Julius Caesar) and a title (Caesar, Emperor of Rome), so your roommate should make clear he is referring to Julius.

For the record, I'm not defending your roommate, he's still an idiot

But I tell ya, his poor grammer will be inspired to be just plain bad writing if he starts to read Mein Kampf.

 

He's failed the basic writing exit exam 5 times now. I doubt he'll EVER pass it. I once read a draft that he wrote and it was just plain out horrible.
