ACCOKEEK, Maryland (AP) -- Seven people were killed early Saturday when a car plowed into people apparently gathered to watch a street race on a suburban two-lane road, police said.

Police examine a car involved in a Maryland drag-racing crash that killed seven bystanders.

The car went out of control on Route 210 around 3:40 a.m. and slammed into the crowd standing on the roadside, Prince George's County Police Cpl. Clinton Copeland said.

A tractor-trailer that came by shortly afterward may also have struck someone on the road as it tried to avoid the crash, he said.

"It's probably one of the worst scenes I've seen," Copeland said. "This is a situation that could have been avoided, and it's a very tragic situation." Watch sheet-covered bodies strewn along road

Was just reading that.

Check this quote out:
"There were just bodies everywhere; it was horrible," said Crystal Gaines, 27, whose father was among the dead.

Gaines said she grabbed her child but could not help her father, William Gaines Sr., 61.
WTF was she doing with her kid and father watching street racing at 3am?

Gee, I taunted the tiger and it jumped up and bit my face!

apparently the car which hit the crowd of people was a Crown Vic without its headlights on. Awesome.

the crown vic was NOT racing.

Two cars raced and left a cloud of smoke @ the line. and a crown vic w/o lights on came barrelling through the smoke and hit the crowd of people who had rushed into the street to watch the racing cars.

See, we call this "weeding out the gene pool"...

Despite the attempts of so many people, it does, on occasion, still occur...
