Default another useless OT

im so sick of paying rent. to most, it's just a fact of life, but to me, it somehow seems wrong just to have to pay insane amounts (esp in socal) just to have a space to exist on.

if you could somehow get all the rent/morgage payments back and never have to pay it again, what would you spend it on instead? more cars, bling, etc? what would have changed/how would life have been different if you didn't have to pay rent in the past?

another issue is the debate whether to spend young or save till you're old. many would argue that you can't enjoy things like you can when you are young.

Buy a house and rent it out.

You only live once.

Why save all your money for when your old? When your old is when you should look back on your life and think about all the nice things you've experienced.

You can't take your money with you when you die.

if you're sick of paying rent, you can just move back in with your parents, and HOPE that they don't charge you rent. either that or find a sugar mommy.

Get so busy you don't need a house. I read an article in Fortune about this Financial Consultant who travels every day of the year, makes millions a year, and doesn't even own a house.

He has an office in Texas, but it's just a place for people to send mail. Nobody's seen him there in years.

It sounds like a miserable way to live, but he has lots of cash

I have 1350 sq. ft. that I own. Funny thing is, between work and my (paying) hobbies, I'm never home.

I could definitely under-own or under-rent.

Problem is, trying to find a mortgage at this point.

yeah

i'm looking to move to west LA and the cheapest 1bdrm is around $1300.

i really don't want to move to k-town.

...i'm spoiled, but i'm willing to pay.

stuff makes me happy, but not working makes me even more happy.

so i try to not have a lot of stuff, in order to save, in order to not work.

imagine the old days where you just run and stake a claim on a piece of land.
