Meh, the hairdresser is their to do his/her job, why should that effect if you answer the phone.. as long as it does not impede or interrupt their work, I wouldn't really be offended, but I could understand your point.. It could be perceived as rude.

I pay the barber to cut my hair. If I want to talk on my phone while he's performing a paid service for me, then frankly, that's my business. I don't go to the barber to make friends or be polite; the only reason I'm there is because he wants my money, and the only reason he's there is because I want my hair cut. The cell phone is irrelevant IMO.

Now, if you guys go to the same barber all the time and develop a personal relationship with that person over time, then yes, I could imagine talking on the cell phone as possibly being rude. I personally don't always go to the same barber, and I don't really chat with whoever's cutting my hair, so he probably doesn't care whether I'm on my phone or not.

I think cell phone use in public is a little out of hand.

To some of the people saying it affects their time to get the haircut done, sometimes I wish it did!! A lot of these hairdressers try to get the job done as fast as possible to bring in more customers, and it ends up being a rush job. I really think that we should be allowed to assess the final product before paying anything..

since i am in the wireless business, the person that cuts my hair understands the need for me to answer. I still don't. I just check to see who is calling everytime it vibrates.

I think it is rude to have someone wait on you, while you are on the phone.
