Default Any decent hotels in Miami??

My wife, daughter, and I will be in Miami the 4th of July weekend before heading to South America. I never been so I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on hotels? I also will look at some condos on Collin's Ave so I might need to contact a real-estate agent as well. Any good agents in Miami on this board?

Thanks,

Sam

You should post on the south florida forum- youll get much better turnout. I know s2k_mtg_04 is working in realstate down here- so he might be someone good to talk to.

WHat kind of vacation are you trying to have? If you are interesteed in partying, and shopping I would reccomend south beach, If you just want to chill on the beach, Key biscayne has some really nice places. You can find great chill places for decent prices a little north too.

I have a infant daughter so partying hard is out of the question. I want to take in the scenery if you catch my drift.

I frequent Miami Beach, but live in Orlando. Basically, you want to stay on either ocean ave or collins. The farther you are down, the better---ie 1st-5th street. The higher the cross streets go, the less to see, ie. 50th-90th st. Personally, I always stay at a hotel called oceans five---its right across the street from the heart of the public beaches in South Beach. It is a beautiful area in the heart of everything, 3 min walk from the ocean. It is also walking distance from everything and there are things to do for all ages. If you have any specific questions let me know, I'm sure you can find something a little cheaper than Ocean's five, but it is a nice hotel in the art deco district and is very nice. The scenery down there is amazing 24x7x365.

Last time I was there, I stayed at the Sheriton Bal Harbor.

(Really Nice Pool!)

Only problem was the shopping closeby was all those friggin' designer label shops with $$$$$$ price tags.

yeah well then if "scenery" is your thing you definantlly want to stay south of lincoln rd. - I personally cant give you any ideas on pricing , as Ive never had to stay in a hotel down there- but I think you can get better prices around south point (where the beach curves out to the jetti), and still be within walking distance to everything nice, and have your fair share of scenery. Ive had some friends stay up at the Lowes- and loved it too.

In South Beach, I've been to the Holiday Inn a coupla times. Nice place, right on the beach, and the Outback in the lobby offers 2-fer-1 drinks during Happy Hour

Well...at least, since I live in a state where Happy Hour is ILLEGAL that seemed cool to me

Yep, illegal. The (ahem) wife-of-a-former-Mass-governor-that-tried-and-failed-to-win-the-Presidnency-in-1992 had a few public battles with her demons...

In other words, because Kitty Dukakis was a drunk, then-gov Mike Dukakis made Happy Hour illegal across the state (ref: 204CMR4.00).
