Any doctors in the house?
Well, my wife and I are expecting our baby boy anytime now. She went to see her doc and found out that she's 1cm dilated and the baby is basically ready to pop.
Now, besides pitocin, what else can we do to get her going?

From "Friends", I remember a few things
: spicey food, sex, walking, etc.
Ross should've banged that Rachel 'til the baby popped out.
I would've.

How many weeks is she? 40 week is the standard median gestation period for human. 1cm dilation doesn't mean much by itself. Woman who has has pregnancy before sometime has slightly dilated cervic withough actually going into labor. It also depends on the thickness/thiness of the cervic and the contractions if any.
Semen has progstaglandins, similar thing can be used for induction of labor. That's why that advice is often given. Walking sometimes help, but from what I have seen, it really just to give the woman something to do and also a pretty safe and good exercise.
Good luck
A hot bath gets it right out. This has been tried and tested by many midwifes and grandmothers over the centuries. It's my hobby to read pregnancy magazines and the hot bath is def. #1 on the list of effective ways to induce birth.
But why are you trying to induce it??
And be prepared to take her to the hospital ASAP if the bath really does it b/c i've read a lot of articles that say that the woman just had her baby at home at that point.
Personally, I feel that for a normal and healthy pregnancy, midwives and home-births are soooooooooo much more special, but i understand that people want to have the safety and security of being RIGHT THERE in the hospital if anything is needed.
Good luck
this is so exciting. Post pictures of your wife screaming at you that you did this to her and she will never ever have sex with you again

Thank you all for the replies
I'm fairly uneasy about the sex part (and I'm never that way, believe me!), so that's out. My wife is actually on the 40th week now if our record keeping (we've been trying for so long) is correct even though the nurse at the hospital said due date is the 13th (Black Friday
) but we know when he was conceived ;p
Anyways, I'll be filming the entire process for sure, and lots of pictures are surely to come soon as well
I'm so excited! The next F1 driver is going to be born soon
