Any engineers out there?
Mechanical Engineering
Worked a few years in nuclear power generation. First at a nuclear generating station as a cad operator. From there, I worked for a small company specializing in valves for nuclear power generation. Started there as a design Engineer, then worked as a sales engineer.
Went into commercial pumps after that, hated it and then opened up a pizzeria back I'm 2010 haha.

Yes, huge change indeed. I definitely miss the intellectual challenges and using the creative part of my brain. However, my income is much better than when I was an engineer. Not having to wear a suit every day and deal with office politics is a bonus. On the other hand, being self employed in this industry means I am on call 24/7. The hours are tough, and I often miss the Monday to Friday, 9-5 gig. Like anything, there's always pros and cons.
I definitely took a risk, and it paid off. Had it not, I always had (have) my experience and education to fall back on.
