i prefer rubberized grips on my pieces.

1911s are nice, but they're not very lefty friendly.

speaking of which, 1911s are like the Hondas, mods are available everywhere.

Rubber is nice on a Comp, duty or target piece but suck for concealed carry. You are right about not being lefty friendly, but with the ambidextrous safeties available or a little practice, they aren't too bad.

Those grips are really nice! But if you are a shooter, then rubber is the best! Been involved in firearms training for about 20 yrs, there are guns to collect and guns to shoot, just know the difference and add the things that make it work best for you!

Preacher,

Wow, nice. Never have seen those before. I have become a 1911 addict now after collecting up some glocks. Im not much of a "collector" as I use all of the guns I buy. Im about to get a Wilson Combat CQB 1911 and cant wait to see how it compares to the Kimber Eclipse and Para LDA.
How do you like your springfield?

I like it alot. It has been 100% reliable since the day I bought it and I have about 4k rounds through it so far.

Try that with a Colt (Heh... )

I also have a Springfield UC which has been a PITA trying to get it broken in.... a diamond lap, polishing wheel on my dremel and 500 rounds and it is STILL damn tight. After 50 rounds or so, I start to get failures where it the slide doesn't return to battery. Clean it off a bit and it will go another 50 rounds. I am seriously considering taking it to a gunsmith.

To round out my 1911's, I have a Kimber custom, another 100% reliable pistol, right out of the box. 3K rounds and still no problems... gotta love that.

Add my G30 and I have enough .45's to get through the day (not to mention other calibers!)

spt-s2k: Shooter as in Competition? Yep... rubber are nice but I honestly don't see a lot of difference other than they are easier on the hands after a few hundred rounds. For the first 100 or so, no score differences for me (then again, I don't do IDPA or anything that origanized) For CCW, grabs to much...

I have a Glock 30 .45 ACP, but I love the look of the 1911s.

I used to do a lot of "paper punching", and I was most accurate with my S&W Model 52 fitted with custom wood grip with thumbrest.
