Default Any math whiz kids in here?

Here's the thing, a friend was in an accident. They're not real computer saavy so they asked me to see if anywhere on the web lies information on the minimum distance required for this particular vehicle to reach 60mph. I have found every stat on the vehicle, but the distance to 60mph is nowhere to be found. Can this bit of data be extrapolated from the available data?

Vehicle: 2000 Ford F150 4x4 extended cab, 4.6L V8
Consumer Reports 0-60 time: 9.8s (this data is from a 99 5.4L, so actual time is probably slower)
Quarter mile: 17.5s
Quarter mile speed: 80.0

There are a number of variables that can determine the 0-60 distance including gearing and tire size. A copy of a 1/4 mile slip would be a lot more helpful because then we could see how fast it got to 1/8 mile (660 feet).

This random timeslip I found online is for a Dodge Stratus but runs about the same speed & time as the F-150 you mentioned. Looking at his 63mph 1/8mi time, we know that the stratus did 0-60 around the 600ft area.

What he said. Three points (plus 0,0) isn't much to extrapolate a curve but even that would allow a rough estimate if you assume a particular curve shape.

At 63 mph and 660 ft, the Stratus is travelling 92 fps. So, if it took 0.5s less to get to 60 mph, you can roughly estimate that it took 605 ft to get to 60 mph.

I plotted it all out in Excel if you want the file. Not much to go on but it's a starting point.

JonBoy, that Excel file would be very helpful. I'll PM you my email address on the off-chance you would be nice enough to send it to me.

Magician, you remind me of my calc professors in college. They always have a smile on their faces when they compute math problems. I found it endearing that they really love what they're doing, but also a little scary. Wish I had a brain that could compute things the instant I see them.

Hmm, then maybe magician and Chuck Norris should have a math-a-thon?
