Any reason why I should get the XBox?

Any reason why I should get the XBox?
I went to Software Etc.
There is a sign on the monitor for xbox "XBox is defective, play playstation 2 instead".
Then I went to EB....XBox isn't working either.
I finally got to a working XBox in CompUSA....well....it sort of works......ok, it doesn't work.
Finally I decided to go to BestBuy.....well, it's broken. Just to be fair, the PS2 isn't up either....but the PS2 has been there for a long time!!!!
So, tell me why I should ever think anything Microsoft is capable of working?
My PS2 has crashed only once in almost a whole year.

If you gotta have a console it is the best of the bunch for hardware. The DVD playback is reported to be better than the PS2. Its ultimate 'power' (audio/video experience) is greater if the game designers will use it all.
Games are, maybe, a different story. My opinion, the N64 was a better system than the PS1 but look at the game selection. Games make or break a system to me. Metal Gear Solid and GT 1 & 2 were reasons enough for me to buy a PS1.

Get it...don't get it but to tell me that you won't get it b/c you don't want to support MS, there are bigger battles people!!
In a word: The XBOX ROX!!! Have a PS2 and love GT3. Now, the rendered replays in GT3 are what you *PLAY* with on the XBOX. The graphics are amazing! HALO kicks ass!! And as far as game selection goes, MS has signed up 200+ developers for it so the games will be coming. So far, so good!

I'm not going to get an XBox but if my roommate gets one, I'll play it. But I doubt he will anyways. It is more powerful but it depends how it is used. There's a good link Elistan had on the previous thread on anadtech that has a review on the subject. As far as supporting MS or not, well I just don't want to support a console that will need to be updated and compatible with blah blah and blah sometime in the future. Right now PS2 has a linux version that was just released - very slick stuff, and besides, has Sony ever let us down on a game console? Stick with the PS2 or go get one. =)
