Anybody have any input on surgical device sales?
I have been with the same company for about ten years now, with much of my tenure being in sales (industrial sales). Soon after I started in sales, the recruiters came a-calling. First it was the pharma recruiters, then after I had shown success the diagnostic recruiters joined, and now that I have a documented track record of performing in the top 10% for several years, the surgical device recruiters have started to contact me. Does anybody have any experience (either first-hand or anecdotal) in this field? I'm just looking for some insight on if surgeons are actually willing to meet with device reps and switch vendors, and also if the (insane) salary expectations are realistic.
Any advice?

lots of work. Lots of driving. Keep your phone on.
Funny that they recruit from outside. Lots of pharm reps want to be surgical rep - pay is better.
salary can be pretty good. One of my surgical rep makes $200K/year. She's good though.
I've heard some ortho rep makes $300K+/years.
