Anybody a Pilot?
Hey Joeyballs,
almost 2 years later... No, I haven't started anything in this career path, but the interest is still there! How do you feel the industry is now compared to when we first started this thread?
thanks,

even though some schools (i.e. embry riddle) might be expensive, scholarships and financial aid will help.

yea dude, its such a love/hate relationship. The problem is ones success as an airline pilot is LARGELY and I mean more so then any other "professional career" based on luck and timing. It's a total crapshoot. Years ago, everybody laughed at guys that went to Southwest, guys went to places like Eastern & US Airways instead, now Southwest is killer and US Airways furlughed guys that were hired 15 YEARS AGO. I have guys that were hired 7 months before me that have been at the airline just 7 months longer than myself, yet I am still an F/O and they upgraded to Captain 3 years ago. In the world of screwing over your employees and cost cutting ones patience in this industry is really pushed to the limit, meanwhile you are expected to remain professional and do your job as best you can as if you were being treated with respect and paid accordingly. I am trying to get out, but know I will most likely miss it everyday, it sad and it sucks, but I don't want to look back at my life and come to the realization that I am 45 years old and still a broke airline pilot. There comes a time when you need to cut your losses and move on ya know. YMMV, but for me I had poor timing
ALOS DO NOT and I will REPEAT DO NOT go to ERAU, it is a LARGE waste of money and has a very bad stigma attached to it in the airline industry
