Anybody use REMOTE DESKTOP?
The computer you want to connect to must have a user account (an account with a password) on it and must have Remote Desktop enabled.
Right-click "My Computer" and click "Properties." Then click on the "Remote" tab and click "Allow users to remotely connect to this computer."
So lets say you're at work, and you want to connect to your computer at home:
Start > Programs > Accessories > Communications > Remote Desktop Connection
Enter in the IP that your home computer is on and voila.
If you home computer is behind a firewall or router, you'll have to forward the port "3389" to the computer. Hope that helps.

Which IP are you using to connect to the other computer in your network?
Make sure that you are using the internal IP. Should look something like this: 192.168.xx.xx
As to the program, it is very useful when helping out friend's with problems. Easy to use and setup. Great program.
If you like this program, another program to check out is RealVNC. I prefer it more than RA, but use RA for the sake of its simplicity.

For all you lazy asses (like me), I've copied and pasted for you guys so you don't have to click on the link.
Microsoft's Remote Desktop Protocol, built into Windows Server 2003, Windows XP and Windows 2000 Server Editions runs on a default TCP/IP port of 3389. For security reasons, you may wish to change this.
Please note: changing the RDP operating port will prevent the Remote Assistance feature from working correctly.
To change the RDP operating port:
* Use a registry editing tool to navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetControlTe rminalServerWinStationsRDP-Tcp
* Insert or change a value with the following details:
Data Type: DWORD
Value Name: PortNumber
Value: The number of the port you wish the RDP service to operate on, e.g. 12345
* Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
Note: It is best to avoid any ports that are commonly used by other protocols. For help in doing this, see our TCP/IP port list.
Please note: All numeric values are shown in decimal notation.
