Default Anyone else working over Christmas? :(

Hey all,

I'm a family oriented kinda guy, and find that the holidays are a great way to catch up with, reflect and generally enjoy the company of loved ones. Unfortunately for me, I am stuck working.

2100-0700 Christmas Eve
2100-0700 Christmas Day
1800-0400 Boxing Day
2100-0700 New Years Eve
1800-0400 New Years Day

Needless to say, there will be none of the aformentioned socializing with family for me Anyone else in this predicament? I'm sure there are many, so lets make this thread an opportunity for all of us who are not allowed to have a Christmas to express their opinions

23rd 0600-24th 1200,
25th 0600-26th 1200,
27th 0600-28th 1200.

No Christmas for me.

Only saving grace is that, um, well, errr, Christmas is, um....I'm out of ideas.

At my "day job" we get Christmas Eve through New Years' Day off, and I'm taking off January 2 as well.

At school I'm done teaching for the semester but I still have final exams to grade.

At the Polite Side of Magic I have a show on December 30 and another on New Years' Eve. That'll bring me up to 10 shows in December.

At ImproveMyOdds.com I work every night getting the data in for the games the following day. No rest for the weary there.

Merry Christmas, all!

I get to work from 1930 on Christmas Eve until 0730 on Christmas day and then again from 1930 on Christmas day until 0730 on the day after Christmas. I actually switched shifts with another guy I work with, I'm single with no family here in Washington while he is married with four kids here. One of the bad things about being in the military, we don't close for holidays nor do we get any overtime!

There are a bunch of people that get time off at the studio where I work but unfortunately, not me. I am considered "Critical Path" and must be here through the holidays. Here is the best thing.. I don't get paid hourly and I get no bonus for doing this. I haven't even got my review that was due last June. You got to love it though..

I have Christmas Eve and Christmas off, but have to suffer through work on New Year's Eve and Day.

The downside is that I'm still suffering from the flu, and won't be able to participate in any festivities.

I am taking Christmas Day as a holiday but have to work 24th and 26th .... on the plus side, we then get 27th - 4th Jan as holidays

That's what comes from working in a country that doesn't celebrate Christmas !!
