Anyone here have an LG DVD Recorder?
I have one, model # DR787T. Worked fine for a year and half then it just craped out on me. The disc goes in but I get a message that says the disc is unreadable. This happens with every pre-recorded disc (i.e. movie rental, TV program, etc) and I can't record programs off air anymore.
Has anyone had a similar issue w/ LG DVD recorders? It only had a 1yr warranty so that's gone and I'm pissed that after only a year and half, it's an electronic paperweight yet the same VCR I've had for over 10 years is still going. Pisses me off.

Had one, died within 4 months. I always knew LG electronics were dog sh!t but I needed one pronto, and that was the only one Best Buy had. I would rather have bird flu than buy an LG product.
At my old company I bought a LiteOn DVD recorder (can't recall model #) and it worked quite well, and is still in use to this day AFAIK. It was quite inexpensive as well.
Doesn't help with your LG paperweight, but might be useful info if you're looking to purchase a new one.

Are you talking about a standalone recorder, or a DVD burner in your computer? I have a LG dual layer dvd burner in my PC, and it seems to be bulletproof. Had it about 3 years I think.

It's a stand-alone, much like a VHS recorder except it's DVD only. Maybe I'll look into the LiteOn recorder. I thought LG products were good, I had an LG cell phone (VX9900) that I dropped many times and it seemed bulletproof. Maybe I shoulda dropped the DVD recorder, maybe it would continue to work
