Default anyone here hide their Upgrade away from their better half?

I remember awhile ago in BMW Digest land. We started a club call UUC (Underground Upgrading Club). It was very fun. The most popular upgrade for BMW at that time was BMW M Roadster shifter in a regular E36 (3 series) car, Chip, then comes Lightweight flywheel. It was pretty funny to see all sort of the excuse for upgrade.

One of them out of my memery was
"Gee Honey! You never realize the car has ______, it was stock. I didn't touch anything."

"What? it make more noise! I will go to dealership to check it out."

"I got a turbo for safety reason, so it can help us ramp onto highway easier and faster."

Just wondering, have anyone here done anything like it? I remember for the first couple days, my gf never realized I had different wheels until I park my car next to my friend who also has the same car. Right away, it shows I have something different. Stupid me!!!

Actually it has gotten to the point that my better half now recommends mods. For the first couple of purchases she was skeptical til she saw the results (Zaino, deadpeadel).
The next couple she endorsed and wholeheartedly approved the results (Rick's console cover & aeroscreen).
And after last weekends gathering at the Dragon she is recommending some mods. Such as
"You know know you should get one of those grills for your car"- Done
"You should also replace those stock badges"- in the process.

I dont really hide anything. I just get it, install it, and she never really notices! Knew about the X-brace 'cause she was here when we installed it, liked the Rick's Console cover. But she's been cool with it so long as I dont run out and get an SC without mentioning the $4k expenditure ...

I'm at the point where I order goods and hope she doesn't find the package before I get home. If she beats me home, my standard response is, "It's no big deal. It only cost something like $20."
Dead Pedal-$20
Voodoo Knob-$20
Rick's manual holder-$20

Try using the "it only cost $20" on the Mugen CF hood. The box is as big as the car.
