Anyone here works for Comcast/can get the hook up?
Just got the digital cable box, thinks it sucks so far, but don't really want to pay 45 bucks extra so I can get the movie channels, I'm sure someone here got the hook up
it's way different than it used to be. The programming you get depends on the box ID number...and they do frequent audits to determine that you get what you pay for.
When it was all analog they just had to add a capacitor or remove a filter to your line to get it working, but it isn't that way now.

that happens because they over-compress. Once they go all-digital (generally 2-73 are analog, at least in my area) this will become less of a problem.
They generally overcompress the "extra" HBO/Cinemax channels, but not the prime ones. It's a balance of perfect picture vs number of channels.
