Default Anyone into air rifles?

.22 Air Arms TX200 + BSA scope.

Quiet, accurate as all hell. The perfect squirrel gun -- well almost you had better get a headshot with the first round as it take a while to get another one off ...

I will get a shot of some groupings at 50 yards tomorrow. Simply amazing how accurate this thing is.

it's a squirrel - if you can't hit it in one shot, it deserves to live Seriously, even a body shot with a .177 BB is lethal to a rabbit at ~20-25 yards. Ask me how I know

Looks really nice - what's the range on that bad boy, do you think? Post up a target when you're done.

Most of my air guns now are airsoft gas pistols (range for crap, won't kill a cockroach, but fairly accurate over short distances), but we've had a pump .177 rifle for, damn, over a decade now, I think. Crazy how accurate and durable it is, and it is a cheap multi-pump Crosman. Never needed another, it won't die

BTW, why'd you go with .22 instead of .177?

I think they are between 900 and 1000 fps. It's a very nice rifle. I got into air rifles about 6 years ago. My most expensive was an FX. It seems one can easily spend more money on air rifles than any rimfire or center fire firearms. I have since divested all that equipment but it was fun to shoot in the basement.

Yeah, but have you ever seen a bad shot to a squirrel? Blood and shit everywhere, they go nuts.

Whats the cost?
Anywhere from 350-750 depending on used or not, stock material etc. Add 80-400 for a scope. More expensive than a real .22 and 3 times the weight -- but you can plink around without anyone being the wiser.

Yeah, depends on the ammunition too. Anywhere between 650 and 1000 has been documented.

.177 is good too -- had a chinese .177 for years. My dad still has a nice .177 match pistol. Spookey accurate out to about 50 feet with open sights. I went with .22 for the added knockdown, better for critter control.

Right now I am shooting Beeman crow-magnum hollow points. Fairly accurate out to 100 yards.

I've got a Beeman (imported Weirach IIRC) P3 pistol. Funky-looking single-pump pneumatic .177 with a softer 1911 trigger feel. At 10 meters it is more accurate than I am.

I figure I can't step up to rifle FPS in my backyard without having the neighbors call cops. Too bad silencers aren't legal in CA...

I had a Slavia .177 as a kid. My dad set up an air riflerange down in our basement for plinking cans and targets. It was a great air rifle - very accurate, very easy to maintain. I brought it to college, set up a target range in my backyard, and was nearly arresteded. . . because my next door neighbor was a bank. Tellers don't like seeing guys running around with guns right outside the parking lot and drive-through tellers.
