anyone know about filing bankruptcy
you know before you do that, i have a few close friends that have done this and they all reget doing it. before you do this check with different credit counseling agencies. do a search on the internet for comsumer credit counselors. they can work out arrangements with your creditors. give it a try before you file bankruptcy. plus, i think we all need to honor our aggreements that we make. i'm not making any judgements, as this applies to everyone.
Before you do that, contact each creditor and tell them of your intention to file bankruptcy, then offer them a "cents on the dollar" resolution to settle things with them, perhaps 25-50 cents on the dollar. If they agree to this, they still get money, where if they don't and you file for bankruptcy, they get nothing. If they agree, this also means that you don't destroy your credit! You WILL have to get a consolidated loan to pay off everyone who agrees to this approach, but it will be cheaper in the end.

even if a credit counseling service looks just as bad on your credit report is just as bad as a bankruptcy, which I do not believe it is, the important thing is honoring the agreements that we make. the idea that filing for bankruptcy will make everything better is wrong. our spending habbits are what gets us into these situations. just because we come away with a "clean slate" so to speak, does nothing to teach us anything about being responsible. another thing to remember, bankruptcy is not a "free from debt" senario. try getting a credit card or loan after and see what kind of terms and interest rate you get. what about all the business that now have to absorb the cost of their loss, we end up paying for that either in higher costs, more stringent credit approvals, and other factors that are not so visible. sorry about the rant......
