Anyone lately driven I 71 Cincy - Cleve lately?

I am going to be going from Louisville, Ky. to Upstate New York in about a month. Are there any serious construction delays on I 71????

If you will be passing through during the day, YES.

You may want to take 70E out of Columbus and then 76N instead.

Moleman,

I drive quite a bit between Cleveland and Cincinnati. The worst part is going through Columbus. There is major work going on at I70. It depends on the time you come through Columbus that can make the difference. The obvious is avoiding the morning/afternoon rush hours. There is also construction north of Columbus but at least 2 lanes are maintained. The speed limit is 55 in the constructions zones and the police are watching. I make the trip in about 3 1/2 to 4 hours. I have to go to Cincinnati again this week in fact. Really not too bad at all.

Good Luck,
Barry

sh2k,

Thanks for the response. I'll be going through or around Columbus around 3:30 or 4:00 on a Friday. I have a CB in my
Durango so I can get a current report on which way to go.
Going by Pittsburg and on to Erie adds about a hour to the trip and I still would have to mess with part of the Columbus bypass. If the delays between Columbus and Cleveland aren't that bad I guess Columbus to Cleveland is the best way to go.

Hey I think I was on that road this past weekend! I happened to be in Ohio over the weekend, I think I took 480? from the Cleveland airport to 71? or was it 77? I don't know, either way the road I was on appeared to have some significant construction going on. I did not hit any traffic to speak of but I was traveling during off peak hours.

Your best bet is to come up 71 to 270 go 270 south around to 71 north. Stay away from 70 East out of Columbus it is full of construction. (My wife drives it everyday) If you go around 270 south/west you should be O.K. until you get around to the north end and a little construction but you should be O.K. If you can leave a tad earlier and try to hit the north side around 3:00 you will be a lot better off. Good Luck.

Our drivers go to Cleveland another way if I can get ahold of him I'll see what he does.

JSHY,

Thanks for the info. I have gone around Columbus taking 270 South. It's not that much out of the way and, at least last year, not to much of a construction problem. Also thanks for the comments on taking 70 East. Please let me know if your driver has a better route.
