Anyone own a canon S100?
Thanks, it's very similar to the one I saw for Olympus C2020 and C3030.
It's the same price too.
I'm still wondering if I should invest in it.
I'll just rent one when I get to cozumel.
I hope the weather is nice at the end of november.

FlyingPig,
I don't know if this helps you but... I own a Canon PowerShot A50 and I love it... I think the S100 is a more powerful camera but this A50 is small enough to fit in a back pocket and takes great pictures! The reasoning behind buying this camera was (1) size, (2) photo quality and (3) price and this camera fit all requirements. Just my 2 cents.

The stitch assist is very good allowing you to do things like this with relative ease...
Hi-rise roof panorama
I would go so far as to say that you can even manage a stitched panorama without using a tripod under some circumstances.
My only wish would be for stitch assist mode to be availabe in portrait as well as landscape (for inside panoramas).
In this one (my lounge room) you wills ee that it could do with more 'height'. The solution is to do a panorama the 'old fashioned' way (i.e no stitch assist) with the camera on it's end in portrait.
Inside panorama
I also purchased a 64Mb flash card which I can fit about 85 1200x1600 pixel images on. You would fit more in 600x800 mode naturally.
The camera takes good quality shots and the size is a big drawcard. You tend to take a lot more pictures when it's not such a hassle to lug your camera around.
Like the ones I'm going to take at the Gold Coast Indy today :-)
Hi Pig:
I have one and love it. It is small and easy to use. Also buy a small carrying case you can attach to your belt. I took it to Disney World and found it very easy touse and its size made it easier as it was out of the way when not in use. You will have to buy a bigger chip card to take a lot of pictures, so factor that in on your price. Look around for a good price. You can get one under $500.

Thanks guys!
Those are very nice photos.
I think I'm just going to get the S100.
The S10 is 100 bucks less, but after buying the charger and the battery, it's about the same price.
I'd rather have the tiny s100.
Has anyone seen a real deep water casing for s100? (besides that pathetic 3 feet water proof casing?)

Hi Pig:
Before you buy the Elf, make sure you can download the pictures on your computer. If you have a laptop, there is a simple device the chip card fits in and you slip it into a port and the pictures download. Costs about $20. The camera comes with a special cord that attaches to the camera and plugs into a USB port. Those are the only two ways you can download and without a USB feature, you have a problem.
The camera also comes with software.
Good Luck

I have usb on all my laptops, desktops....except for my server.
I may get a CF reader so I won't even download directly from the camera.
Since it's more likely that I would be carrying the CFs around, rather than the camera, I can just get a reader at work and a reader at home.
hm....or maybe I should just get 2 cameras.

I gotta get one before going down to cozumel.
I reserved one at the dive shop already. However, I don't usually have the motivation of developing films....that's why I prefer using a digital camera.
Laird, admit it, you are just waiting to see my wife in bikinis. She bought 3 sets of bikinis and 3 sets of tankinis over the summer and had no chance to wear them. Summer never graced us with a visit this year.
