Are you looking to start one indoors or out? Do you live in an area where you can go karting all year long (i.e. So Cal, NV, TX, etc.) Who are you thinking on marketing to?

I heard the ventilation system alone for one of the indoors tracks costs upwards of $500,000.

Stick with the great outdoors...

well there was some, I wouldn't say scandalous, but definetely some -how do you say- deliberate replicas as well as unfair business practices through market penetration by means of price dumping. (making replicas, charging ungodly low prices)
example here :Replica of a well known vendor's side skirts
as well as
here : Copying another different vendor's Air Induction System

now the problem wasn't that he was 'copying', the problem was that once he was selling them, he was bashing the original makers of the copies that he was making (make sense?)

but back on topic......
there is a local one here that cost aprox 3.5 Mil to make. the go karts are clutchless that are made in Europe that are designed to be abused (read stupid drivers) and reinforced to crash into the barricades. they dont go very fast, but they still turn and handle well.

Good luck on the venture

You want to go over to ekartingnews.com and ask this question if you are serious. That is were all the karters hang out.

A go kart place recently opened up close by. The equipment (karts, etc..) cost the guy about 750,000. Then the cost of the building. One smart thing he did was pick up a few companies as sponsors. They get advertising and donate $$$. I am guessing in total depending on the size and all, you are looking at about 2 mil with everything
