Default Anyone a Parole or Probation Officer?

Anyone on here a parole or probation officer? Need a couple of questions answered. Doing a group project for a paper on Thursday.

Thanks in advance,
Al D.

What is your typical caseload?
How many parolees or probation cases do you handle?
What size area do you have?

A friend is one. I will send this to her and see if she has time to respond tomorrow.

Thanks! Appreciate the info, all I find is what the "IDEAL" caseload is, not what most are actually handling.

This was the response I got. If you need any clarification let me know.

Since I am now in the transfer unit in Scott County Community Corrections I no longer have my own caseload but rather two part time agents supervise the transfer (within state and out of state) transfers. I believe we transfer out approximately 800 cases per year. I am not sure how many we take in. We have high numbers due to the casino, Valleyfair, racetrack, etc. so we have a high transfer caseload.

If your friend wants to know an average adult case load it is between 70-80 cases and in Scott County we break it up by cities. (Shakopee, Prior Lake and Savage, Belle Plaine, New Prague, Jordan) Each adult agent supervises an area. Each adult agent usually has on about 6-8 supervised release clients/parolees.

Scott County also has an agent that supervises repeat DWI offenders through the Safe Streets Program, an agent that supervises high risk sex offenders, and an agent that supervises an intensive caseload that typically is mostly supervised release clients. (Supervised release clients are the same as Parole clients except that MN no longer calls it “parole” and instead uses “supervised release”.)

Thanks! That helps a lot. Interesting that they are calling it supervised release in MN.
