Is it appropriate to use an image of Hitler in your sig?

That's a shame, because once we stop thinking about him and what misery and suffering he caused, that is when someone like him will be allowed to come to power again ....... We need to remember, and we need to learn, trying to forget about things is not the way to deal with them !
James, nicely put (not to pick on Destiny... but, I couldn't agree more with what you're saying). I don't remember who said this, but the price of freedom is vigilance.
When I was a kid, I wasn't too interested in history, and I was less interested in current events. The sciences always held my fascination, and I gave short shrift to all the other stuff. I regret that now because I have to refer to textbooks so often when I should know this stuff.
The problem with history is that it is constantly re-written and the revisionists have their say. So, as generations pass, nobody knows what's really true anymore. Add to that the fact that people feel more and more distanced from the past because the world changes so much. It is staggering to me how many people either don't know or don't believe the horrors that were perpetrated during the 20th century. By the end of the 21st century, WWII is likely to be forgotten. But, not yet!
Anyway, I ramble... My point was only this. There are times and places for thinking about the lessons of history. This whole thread is about taste and what is proper, not about the nooks and crannies of the US's first constitutional amendment. I also want people to consider the impact of "adult" subjects like war on children (public schools). Many of you advocated a basically free hand, where posting anything (say, a picture of Hitler) is fair game in a public place. Perhaps not.
Anyway, back to work.

let's get this thread back on track...what advertisements (tv,newspaper, billboard, etc) have you found offensive or inappropriate? I'm sure those God billboards from a few years ago are as offensive to some people as wicky's hitler pic. Is taking offense the same as being inappropriate? I hardly think so. I offend people all the time, but when I ask others about my actions later they are usually deemed appropriate, unless I am appropriately drunk

isn't wicky always appropriately drunk
