Default Archie Bunker died - Carrol O'Connor

Just saw in the "compuserve" headline news that Archie had died.

I was too young to know it, but I guess that show was worse (pushing the limit that is) for it's time than NYPD Blue is for our time.?

The show really did push the limits for it's time and made fun of everyone. It pointed out many things that were wrong with "us" in general.

Mr. O'Conner will be missed.

They show blocks of re-runs on one of the DTV channels...

It's kind of interesting to watch. Much more play-like with witty dialogue and great writing. Puts most modern sit-com crap to shame.

I just heard he died this morning on my way to work. I will miss him......I was too young growing up to understand 'All in the Family'. I watched most of the episodes in the past 2 years on TV Land and Nickolodeon(Nick at Nite). Hilarious show....but also had a message.

I agree. Great acting, great writing, and a hell of a show. Nickelodeon showed All In the Family every night at like 11, maybe two episodes, for a while. I think they still might.

That's the kind of show that could make you fall out of BED laughing. Now... I know I'm taking a risk saying this, as a guy and all , but the only other show that made me laugh as hard was The Golden Girls.

I'm sorry, but if you don't think that's funny, there's somethin' wrong with you. Those old ladies were funny as hell.

While Mr. O'Connor is best remembered as Archie Bunker, he had a fifty-year career playing a number of different characters. He hardly ever was a leading man, but always a great supporting player.

Well I don't think anyone denies that he had many other roles, but Family is his most-revered, for sure.
