...desperately!

I'll admit the new one is better than the first attempt but I'm a code jockey and could use an artist to design a professional looking logo.

I'd like to print greeting cards and hats and shirts and boxer shorts and I'd like a logo the really represents a caliber of the members here.

Any takers? Fame and fortune await!

Well, I'm a decent artist... on paper.

Haven't really done anything on the Web.
I could, perhaps, draw up a thing or two and see if a friend of mine would have time to try and Web-ize it...

cthree, my job IS to design logos, and fortune follows (s2k in my garage), and I'd like to help you if you want, although I'm not really in the 3D-drop-shadow-flare-effect sort of thing, I could give it a try.
I'm working on a Macintosh, with illustrator 8.0 for logos, does it suit you, or do you need jpeg files (fine for the net, but unsufficient for printing).
I don't have a web site, so I can only give you names of clients I've worked for (mostly in fashion, contemporary art & independent press) if you want to know my caliber
