Are Asian-Americans underrepresented in media?
Asians are less than 4% of the population. even a marketing campaign with 100% penetration rate in the asian american community cannot even compare to a shitty marketing campaign targeted towards whites.
$ talks. the end. most americans are white and are xenophobic. they dont trust colored people.

Hollywood for the most part is a misrepresentation of reality. I don't know of any race that isn't misrepresented in Hollywood. With asians it's the martial arts thing. All blacks are wisecracking street smart gangsta rapper types who only drive Mercedes Benz's. All whites are white collar guys whose wives are cheating on them or they're in the middle of a divorce, and they're either embezzling from their job or trying to catch someone who is embezzling. Hispanics are ex-cholos who are now politicians or work for the police. Middle easterners are all terrorists.
Most Americans without exposure to different cultures would be put-off and confused by a movie that didn't portray these images. No wonder the rest of the world thinks Americans are effed up - they see our movies and TV shows and they think that's the way we really think.
