Aston-Martin DB-7 Vantage
I do part time car detailing and this week end I detailed what I thought was the ultimate sports/luxury car. This 2000 model cost around 165K and yes I know Ford owns Aston-Martin and it looks like they build them as well. What a disappointment for such a ridiculous price. Yeah it has 12 cylinders and is exotic looking but for all you whiners who constantly complain about the S2K's interior appointments listen up. The carpet and leather is first rate and should be at that price. but the interior fit is crappy, the front and rear windows stick up about 1/2 " with the top down, there is no auto down for the drivers side windows, the rear "glass" looks like a rectangular port hole and visibility sucks. I'll take my plastic one. The radio is a Low end Kenwood with no CD or tape. The back seats are just about big enough for "Mr. Pockets". The "wood" on the dash and the doors is faded looking maple and looks like stick on veneer you buy at Home Depot. The inside of the windows leaked water during washing. As far as performance it would be a close match in a drag race with the S2K but I would eat it up on the twisties. Of course, it's an automatic. My wife came out during the detailing and said she would take our little "ole" Honda over the Aston anyday at 1/5 of the cost. But, it came out beautiful and the guy who wanted it done is 2nd in command at the biggest bank in the area. I also did his 740i, Lexus SUV and Chevy Suburban and he was very pleased with my work. The point is, the S2K may not be top shelf in the interior appointment area but in comparison it aint that bad. The thought of paying all those bucks for the Aston and getting what I described would make me want to throw up. Enjoy the stook and stop bitchin.
