Astronomy Lesson
This is comet C/2002 C1 discovered a little over two weeks ago (2/01/02). Raptor, I know this will interest you. This thing will be a naked eye object the towards the end of March and April and could get very impressive. I have been watching this comet and was putting it on film 12 hours after it was discovered. I even managed to get one of my images publish on Astromomy.com http://www.astronomy.com/Content/Dynamic/A...00/763khkce.asp
About the only time I have for the S-CAR is driving back and forth to the photo lab.

Great image. Congratulations on getting an image published. Is that Astronomy Magazine's website? I see the beginning of a visible tail on the website image. I'll keep an eye out for it. Thanks.

Nice pic!! What setup are you using for astrophotography? I've always wanted to get into it, but I need a better scope. I have a 4.5" Newtonian...want to buy a 8" Schmidt-Cassegrain and CCD ($$). Just curious as to what you're using. Thanks!!
Hi Station. Sorry not to get back sooner but I have to work once in a while to support my cars and hobbies. The telescope I used for the comet image is a Meade LX 200 10" SCT at F 6.3. The comet is bright enough that I guide with a 700mm refractor piggybacked on the bigger scope. I have some smaller scopes butthe 10" is the only computerized scope I have. I am going back out tonight for comet C2002 C1 and then in the morning I am going to photograph another comet which has returned to the northern skys, C/2000 WM1. I got it on film before it went south to circle the sun.
