Default Attention Ladies

Ok so I have been playing cheap with the GF this year. Making her think that no big presents are in order but I am bought a nice rock from a diamond broker.

Not to give the wrong impression of this particular girl but she LOVES jewelry. LOVES it. Did I mention she LOVES jewelry? And she is very particular about it. So anywho the question........

For Christmas do I get the darn thing set and do the bended knee thing or do I somehow creatively present the diamond and take her to pick out the setting after Christmas?

I don't know if she likes yellow gold, or platinum. What kind of setting. Side stones, solitaire ring. Blahbity blah. I would hate to get the wrong thing, because if she does not like it she will not say anything but instead pout. She would say "Whatever you pick out is fine".

Women allways say that kind of thing and they LIE. "Oh.....just get me anything." LIARS!!!!!

And guys don't know or care about jewelry so we don't know what to do. Did I mention this chick is into jewelry?

Gracias and Froliche Weinachten

If that's the case, look at the stuff she already has. Is it all platinum? Is it white gold? Chances are, what she wears, she likes.

You're probably better off presenting the diamond to her and then having her go with you so she can pick out what she wants. Better safe than sorry.

I kind of thought that, but some might consider that corny or un-romantic.

Most of the stuff she has is hierloom stuff. An antique Rolex and friggen giagantic gem ring, (I think is a saphire) but she did not pick it out, they belonged to her grandmother.

I suppose her other stuff is yeelow gold but, to tell you the truth, I don't look at her jewelry when she wears it. It is something other women notice, not most men.

She would tell you I would notice if she cuts her hair shorter or puts on a pound. Yes, typical male.

Give her just the stone is a nice black velet case or something along those lines and then take her to pick out the exact ring/setting.

If she really likes jewelry, she probably knows what she likes and doesn't like. Good idea to creatively present the diamond to her. She may consider that unromantic because she wouldn't be able to put the ring on right away, but obviously you know her better, so that's your call.
Either way, she'll be wearing that ring for the rest of her life, so if she really does not like it, you don't want to live with decades of pouting.

another idea, if you have a sister or a close female friend, pretend that your female friend needs a ring for her wedding to go ring shopping with your gf and have your gf suggest ideas.
