My co-worker had to get ACL surgery on both hind legs for his English Bull Dog. He's in for almost $10,000 so far.

One of our Pomeranians ate a Sego Palm seed. The bill from LSU was over $5000 and that didn't count our local vet. Worth every penny!

at Bilyjimbob. He's not the prettiest cat, but I wouldn't go as far as to call him ugly.

My mom is a vet tech. I'll have to ask if she knows what the highest bill was. The things we do for the animals we love. They ARE family.

I think my biggest bill was for about a grand and that was for a tumor removal and teeth cleaning. The tumor was cancerous but the dog lived another 12 years and died at 16.

That dog had a condition called "canine alopecia x" which made his hair fall out. His butt was bald his entire life (kind of like a baboon), but during that time he needed a medication called trilostane which was not FDA approved yet and cost $150 a month to keep hair on the rest of him.

I never encountered a huge one time bill, but probably spent over $18,000 on vet care for the dog over his life. I was happy to do it. Great dog.

once the vet bill exceeds the price of said animal new......

That said in my younger years my girlfriend and I at the time had a damned cat that fell backward and broke his femur. That cost us 1400 bucks to drill and have a tiny titanium pin put in. Hind sight says I should have just spent the hundred bucks and had him put down.
