Ok, I think I have what would be described as a muscle pull in a tricep where it connects to the shoulder. All excercises are fine except tricep extensions will tweak it every time. It is painful but I can work through it but just have to put up with the pain. Laying off of it does not seem to do anything, I can stay off it for three weeks and tricep extensions will "pop" it again. Had this in a pectoral once and just worked out in pain for about 6 months until it went away.
Any strategies for dealing with this or speeding healing???? Don't know if streching will help, I always do bench press and dips before extensions, and those exercises do not tweak it.
Danke.

Try acupuncture. Its fast and effective. I had my share of muscle sprains through free weights and sports. Make sure you get a HIGHLY recommended specialist.
My most recent visit was about a three months ago. I just recently pulled my traps muscle. I couldn't turn left. What my doctor did first was straighten my neck bones and massage the muscle. It HURT like hell!!! Next she gave my some kind of electric shock treatment which were connected to the acupuncture needles. The electric shock wasn't painful at all. It just makes you twitch a bit. On top of that, there was heat therapy using a lamp. Then she did some Chinese thing where they hover their hands over your muscle without touching you. I guess its some kind of meditation thing.
All that for $40/session for two sessions. I was back in the gym two weeks later. I'm skeptical so I also had x-rays taken to prove her work.

, I called a few sports doctors and they were charging 200 + for a visit without x-rays so i figured its not that bad
.
I just did a workout last night and did not tweak it too bad, just mildly. I usually do my bench and some flys and my triceps are a little tired, then I switch to tricep extensions. Do a two handed dumbell extension set with 55, then 35, then 20 until failure. It would always tweak with the 55 pounds, so I just cut that part out. Start with the 35 and just do a bajillion reps.
It takes longer but it is the intensity of the higher weight that seems to do it the worst, as well as lowering the weight behind my head as far as I can. I did not bring it down as far either. I will try it this way for a while, ice it after workouts, and try some heat once in a while or the whirlpool tub.
I would like to get a nice homegym, the one I want is by Hoist, and I think cables stacks, while not offering the freedom of movement and ability for greater definition, do not provide as much posssibility for injury.
