I cannot believe #8. Maybe Seattle or possibly Everett, but Bellevue?!? Guilt by association I hope.

I live in #9. There was another site that had state by state listing of most stolen types of cars. I hate to sound racist...but...

The Clarion Ledger (largest newspaper in the state) totaled up all of the crime reports from the JPD and found that 95 of all crimes in jackson invloved a black person, and 70% of those crimes were black on black (where the criminal and the victim were both black). Jackson has a large ghetto distric and whats happening is that blacks in the black part of town are stealing cars in their area, and taking them joyriding and then put them in a ditch somewhere or burn them up. The kinds of cars stolen are what you would espect from that behavior and area...mostly 70's and 80's big GM cars (oldsmobile cutlass, monte carlo's, buicks, etc...Those big v8 GM cars of the day that all looked the same).

They aren't stealing many cars like bimmer's and other luxury cars because the people that own those live in a city north of Jackson, MS called Madison. And madison is all old money with gated neighborhoods, 95% white community, and almost 0 crime (according to police reports), best schools in the area. Obviously crime follows low income areas according to the results by the police in the area. Did I mention madision is a wierd place? They have strict ordinances. Population of about 30K, and NO apartments and the like, its all houses, and weird building codes. All gas stations have to look like train stations, signs can onnly be at most 10 ft off the ground. Walmart is building a store there that looks like no other in the country, made out of red/orange brick and will have that train station look to it.

i live in the northeastern part of the state. also called, "chop shop heaven". the reason we didn't make the survey is that there aren't a hundred thousand people up here. woulda been number one, two, and three.......

As a Jersey resident, I'm shocked that Newark, NJ didn't make the list. . . Just a few short years ago Newark was #1

I'm surprised Boston didn't make the Top 10!

Boston used to make the Top 10 pretty consistently for the past couple of years.

Oh well!

ICEMAN666
i have to agree with you...most of those figures are from where the cars a recovered from and not actually stolen and most cars are brought to the junk yards and chop shops in Newark but i guess we're slacking off. Personally i've never known anyone who had their can stolen from newark amazingly enough i have friends with very nice cars and even riced out cars which always attracts the common thief. I guess they all moved over to J.C. which is only 10mins away so that they could give Newark some time to rest =). Plus with the renovocation of the city it's becoming a lot better. which is good but i don't plan on staying there much longer.

p.s.

i've been to boston several times and would not worry about my car in that town...obviously you haven't seen the true slums if you think boston is a bad neighborhood for car theft

Fresno, CA. What a shit hole that place is.

Maybe someone would steal the whole town. Fresno isn't "That" big of a town. Must be a lot of kids/people w/ nothing to do.
