what if your life depended on it...would you do the prostate stimulation or would you go down in a blaze of glory.
also you have to consider that middle america makes a lot less money then the northeast/cali/ and major metro areas

I would guess that the numbers here would be slightly lower, and our dollar is worth half of what yours is. Nobody is claiming that we are a poor country.
You guys have no idea just how rich you are. Most of the world lives in poverty. There is no way that USD$50,000 or whatever can be called "not a lot of money at all".
To you guys, an S2000 is worth much less than yearly earnings. To us, it's much more, maybe double average annual earnings. Again, nobody is calling us a poor country. I think a little perspective is due.

For more interesting, revealing and maddening tax/income statistics, check out www.taxfoundation.org. Lots of stuff there...
What's more amazing is how 50% of the population lives like they make $100k or more, when your stats say 15% do.
No arguement, it's a great country and the majority live damn well but world standards.
Personally, I feel blessed and shocked that I've done so well..... especially when I graduated 225 out of 240 in high school - - - but there was all those distractions back then!

The average US family earned $63,410 during the previous 12 months. . .
With the following breakdown ($70.8 million families). . .
10.4% make less than $15,000
23.3% make between $15,000-$34,999
16.8% make between $35,000-$49,999
22.0% make between $50,000-$74,999
12.3% make between $75,000-$99,999
9.7% make between $100,000-$149,999
5.5% make %150,000+
I still find it disturbing that 1/3 of all families make less than the price of our cars. . .

You also gotta remember that this counts the "Taxable Income". Most people who earn millions only have 30-50k worth of Taxable Income cause they protect their income thru corporations, trusts etc etc. All legal, and VERY effective.
That doesn't mean anything at all.
100k family income is nothing if you live in a major metro area.
You are probably in one of those area. That's why you think every family should make at least that much.
A lot of people may not be able to afford a stook, but they live comfortably in their neighborhood.
Their house doesn't cost 500k to a mil, and their property tax isn't 15,000+.
After feeding your house, a 200k+ income family in above area can't afford a stook either.
(unless you decide to be very irresponsible and spend the money you don't have.......like me.....higher family income DOES qualify you for a loan)
