Default bad day (rant)

i read SaintS2K's "can't stay awake on the job" post and couldn't laugh at all even though it was funny

today's horoscope or whatever planet alignment must have been bad for me - my boss comes into the office in a not-so-good mood, which in itself is a bad sign already. still suffering from jet lag and mostly stomach flu i showed some pain in my face as acid reflux rushed up while i had a meeting with my boss - the disgust in his eyes was very deflating. i didn't have lunch (can't eat anything from the stomach flu) and thought i'd take the usual 15 minute shut-eye in my office instead of on the car as usual. the boss walked in as i was napping and threw a fit, and threw my ass back home. i couldn't explain - they're all excuses in his eyes, so i deflated and left the office.

it kinda sucks when you're not 100% physically and your mind tries to make up for that missing % and fails for just those few moments and get caught by the one person you never want to show your weakness to.

(sigh).

Rich:

Has this guy got any reason to be so pissed at you? If he really hasn't, (and I know it's a difficult situation) then I think maybe, you should let him know you don't like his attitude too much. Some guys are just bullies on power trips who like to throw their weight about. I worked for a guy once who made certain peoples lives a misery because they let him!

When you go back explain to him what your condition was and see how he reacts. It sounds like he acted pretty unprofessionally towards you today. I feel your pain I am tired of taking crap from bosses also.

i finished my MBA

found a job 6 months ago

but the boss runs the company military style (former special forces guy)

it's difficult to explain in a short reply, but he's not the listening type, nor does his leadership style reflect the humanistic approach. he does have great charisma (in his own way), and i'm trying to learn his success factors and try not to absorb the ones that are not

on a side note, in the past 15 years there have been 27 people in my position, i'm the 28th - the turnover is pretty high, and if you work here you'd know why. it takes a certain kind of person to be able to er...take my boss

but i do like him when he's not moody

That sucks Richard. Guess it would've been better to call in sick instead of going of going to work.

I remember getting back from Japan and suffering jetlag. It took me 2 weeks to get over it. During that time, I napped like crazy in my office. Luckily, I had an officemate to act as a lookout for me.
