It might as well be in another state, as there is kind of a disconnect between the
Northern and Southern half of the state.
I say it's time for change. Let them all die and someone else takes over or start a new company. There's no point in rescuing them if the middle class is broke. Do the car company provide the majority of jobs in America? I don't think so. What's the big deal if they went bankrupt? Use the money for their bailout and create jobs through infrastructure rebuilding. Roads, bridges, etc.. need to be fixed. Those people can apply for these jobs if they want to. Get rid of the Union. They do nothing but encourage people to be lazy. Why should the tax payers have to pay for the big 3 car makers' employees who no longer work for them?

Yep, but management accepted their terms, and have been every time the UAW
contract came up in one form or fashon or another. They bascily had to accept
or the UAW would strike, "we wont build your cars", and the cycle continued
to the point where we are today. Now, "The chickens are comin home to roost".

This is why I have zero sympathy for management. Awww, the UAW is muscling you? Boo-hoo. It takes real leadership to disappoint shareholders for 2 quarters in 199X, versus possibly loosing the company now.
Ultimately, blame the person in the mirror (read: any shareholder demanding quarter-to-quarter performance vs. actual development of a company).
