Basement flooded...
my basement flooded with about 2 inches of water due to a faulty hydro pump switch (probably a result of the power outage we had recently) and since i knew nothing about how these things work i was stupid enough to pay someone to do it.
i'm wondering: should i opt for a battery backup sump pump OR should i just simply go get something like the APC UPS that'll keep the pump going during a power outage? of course the backup pump is used in case the primary pump stops working...

a 3/4hp pump motor at startup would be a significant load for a ups, but its do able.
-700watts per hp steady state but startup requirements would be way high.
-a battery backup pump, how reliable are these? will it work 2years from now?
buy a craigslist standard pump in case the first failed. and or go all the way and cut another hole in the basement floor and run 2 pumps at the same time. cement cuts easy with the right rental tool.
how long did it take to fill with water? get a small Honda generator for those times power is out.

basement is not finished, thank god, so the stuff that are damaged are just mainly boxes and unwanted bookshelf.
i guess the battery requirement is more intense than i thought.
