Behind the Music...
I could write every show. You just change the names of the players.
We could have our own here: Behind The S2KCA: The Greg Stevens Story.
A tale told with requisite melodrama.
There would be shots of Greg and his buds reminiscing about the triumphs and the tragedies that the group went through, their early days, the meteoric rise to the top, and the sobering reminder that fame is inevitably short-lived when it leads to needless bickering. If it follows most of the other stories, the lead is going back out on the road to regain what once was, and what should have been...
Sample soundbites on the Greg Story:
"there we were, just the two of us on that road..."
"when we got to Japan, that's when things really changed..."
"I couldn't believe how he left the group like that, he just took off..."
and my fave:
"How he walked away from that wreck, I'll never know, not even a scratch..."
Anybody else got a few?

ha ha ha....John, very funny, my man...!
There does seem to be a recurrent theme to these shows...
Anyone watching The Cult's BTM now?
More of the same! But the Motley Crue one beats all the ones I have seen for substance abuse problems.
Man, it's amazing most of the people are still alive!

Whats really funny about Leif is, they actually made a BTM about him. Like he even mattered after 79...or before it for that matter.
Funny how it was before the Poison one...what, you think he might be the one of those drugged out losers?
Could be.

If you do get a chance, do watch the Journey one sometime. I think the lead singer is probably the only person I've ever seen who actually wore a suit to do his BTM interview. The guy obviously takes himself too seriously.
Thanks Mike,
OK, Due to massive (?) demand, a few more bites from the Greg story:
Various members of the Chicago 7 discuss early meetings with Greg.
Nick and Jason surely would have a line or two.
Larry would mention seeing Scarlet I for the first time.
"He looked at the wreck, and thought he could fix it to be better than it was, maybe even the best ever..."
Meat is called in to discuss that first day he met up with Greg.
"but little did they know at the time, it would prove to be the start of something big..."
I can't leave Sondra out of this:
"the meeting between Greg and Sondra in April 2000 would have to wait. Destiny put on hold..."
"but as the fates would have it, Sondra would later find herself in Chicago to join forces... "
John remembers the first impressions of the guy who drove down to Asheville that Friday afternoon in April.
" I was in the restaurant bar and Greg walks in, I just knew we were in for a good time that weekend..."
"A year later, S2K Days would take Asheville by storm..."
John remembers: "It was bedlam, you couldn't get so much as a ham sandwich anywhere in town that weekend."
The Renaissance Hotel security guard recalls needing therapy after the group left.
"I was scared to go near the elevators, out of fear there would be a party underway inside them."
Let's not forget Japan:
"But just six short weeks later, Greg called in a favor from a friend, Scott Z. at King Motorsports, and got the group into Mugen plant."
John remembers "we were there almost 3 hours, they had a hard time getting us out the door. I remember Mr. Kojima calling two cabs for us."
"Jet lag having taken its toll, the group returned home tired, yet somehow proud they had accomplished what they had set out to do."
I'll leave out the Laguna negotiations of last summer. Certainly a source of stress relieved only by all night drinking binges.
"Greg had DOUBLE the amount that killed John Bonham."
Then onto the Dragonball Run in September:
"we all thought Greg had stretched himself pretty thin, those squealing front brakes were just the half of it."
Suzuka Sue remembers Greg's command of the road.
Greg would recall firsthand the drive back with Westside Billy. and the near tragedy that would befall Scarlet II's loose sparkplugs.
Not to mention this gem:
"But what Greg couldn't know, even behind the wheel of a friend's car, he would battle a deer that headbutted the driver's side..."
"Once again, Greg escaped from another near-calamity."
Thankfully, the flap of the last few weeks would not be mentioned as this story was already in post-production.
Now onto to cook up a few "Before They Were Stars" episodes.

My fav Cult album is Love, with Electric coming on a close second. Their website is http://www.thecultnet.com .
So Greg, what's the story with them? How was the show? Are they still touring or what?
