While is certainly possible that other planets contain life, even intelligent life; they haven't been here.
Why?
1.The interstellar distances are stupefying, unimaginably vast Even traveling as the speed of light (impossible) the time required is still enormous
2.Time dilation means that any information gather by aliens wouldn't be known to anyone else of their race for millions of year or even longer.
3.Space is extremely inhospitable to carbon based life. It's virtually impossible to protect life from the background radiation in space and any carbon base life form would eventually succumb to it.
4.The amount of time we've existed in this planet when compared to the age of the universe is infinitesimal, So it's extremely unlikely that two intelligent race would exist simultaneously and even more unlikely that they would encounter one anther.
5.Given the size of our galaxy alone, (BTW there are perhaps BILLIONS of galaxies) it's unlikely that another intelligent, space faring race would stumble across us.

You dont have to travel at the speed of light to get across the galaxy. Einstein has already proved you can "fold space" to get from one place to another. While we are a LONG ways off before being capable of doing that, doesnt mean that others arent.

Let's put it like this, if we are the best that God has created then that aint saying much......we break or die easily, only use 10% of our brains, kill and fight constantly, have to actually raise our children 15-18 years...........if this is the best thats out there then thats sad.
