Personally, I think a navel ring is pretty hot on the right person. If a girl is 5'1" and 200+ lbs., her best bet would not to have a navel ring to draw attention to an unflattering part of the body. That's just my personal 2 cents.

To dig a little deeper - Can you elaborate on the reasons as to why you are considering one? (ie. - just for fun, do it while you're young, attract more attention, feel sexier, etc.) - if it's one of the latter two examples I listed, keep in mind that attractiveness/sexiness (a large part of it) comes from within and the attitude and self-confidence that one has. So in that case, I would have to vote no. But if you want to do it just for fun, because you can, or while you're still young, go for it!

I've seen pictures of the chassis. I think it'd look great.

The tattoo on the lower back has to be the most annoying thing ever. Even most 40 year old moms have it. Hell, i've seen some 50++++ year old lady with one. Such a turn off for me to see that thing on a chic.
I also love how people reply with "i thought it's different." Uhhh...no. You must be blind as hell cause even your mom has one.

Keep the body clean. I like to focus on the whole body, not get fixated on just one portion. That's the way it should be.

i say if you really want one, you should get it to see what it's like. if you decide it's not what you thought it would be or don't like it, then you can always take it out...simple as that. (that's the good thing about piercings versus tattoos.)

It wouldn't hurt because you could always take it out as mentioned..

In terms of attractiveness, really depends on how old you are.. I think it's more of a high school, late teen thing.. once people get into their 20's, and have a sense of maturity, some of that teenie bopper craze gets old... Especially when it seems like everyone has one.. It's almost more unique to not have any piercings or tattoos in this era.
