Default Biofermin(C)

I've been taking this since I was a little boy. It's imported from Japan, and they're little tiny tablets that you can chew. I was curious if anyone has ever had them before. Here's what the label says:

"Biofermin: Active lacto and glyco bacteria preparation.

Prepared under the strict supervision of the experienced bacteriologists in accordance with Professor Metchnikoff's theory on the prolongation of life containing a large quantity of powerful lactococci and glycobacilli..."

Made by Biofermin pharmaceutical co., of Kobe, Japan. I guess the tablets are those "good" bacteria (high school biology) that helps you digest.

Has anyone had this before?

I think you should organized a groupbuy for a sample quantity for those who're interested, it's pretty good for growing up.

Hmm, sounds like "Lactaid" tablets that we have here in the US... I'm no biochemist
or anything like that, but I suspect that it's used to help people counter lactose intolerance
problems associated with drinking milk. Basically, the pill has enzymes that the body has
trouble producing, which breaks down the lactose in milk for you.

hey mingster,
i'm guessing you lactose intolerant. the lactobacilli described in the tablet should aid in the digestion of carbs (specifically lactose). they might also ward off harmful bacteria that might take over the colon if the beneficial environment of normal flora is disturbed.

This sounds simillar to something my sister takes for colitis (sp?). If it is the same, it replentishes "good" bacteria in the intestines that are destroyed by antibiotics taken for "bad" bacteria.

i've never been lactose intolerant until just recently (about 2-3 years now, since i've been married...does that say something? ). but yes, you are absolutely right about the bacteria

good bacteria!

actually, the enzyme activity of lactase decreases as you age. or like you said, it could be your wife's cooking LOL. i think asians and especially koreans have the lowest lactase activity.
