That is one weird looking plane.

How the hell does it get lift without hardly any wing surface?
It looks like it would be seriously unstable at lower speeds.

Americans sure design the best looking fighter aircraft in the world... can't say much about their cars though...

True.

The Soviets came up with some beatiful designs in the 80's.

For example the MIG-29 and the SU-27.

The Anglo, French, German Eurofighter was another nice design as was the Swedish SAAB Grippen.

The fuselage is used as an airfoil as well. A lifting body if you will. I am sure it is unstable as hell. The F-117 Nighthawk is also unstable as hell but uses lots of computers to keep everything working.

Even taking that into account it is still a pretty small area.

Yeah I heard that if these fail the plane will basically fall out of the sky in a matter of minutes.

Hey, don't forget us Canadians and the Avro Arrow . It was way ahead of it's time. Okay, okay this was in the 50s but we ruled the skies then. Now we have nothing, but we have great beer !

Interesting design on the Boeing. Clearly this one will rely on computer balance like the F117 does. Takeoffs will be especially interesting, not a lot of lift compared to the drag of the plane with landing gear. Although I trust that the folks at Boeing have that figured out by now

This is true, except the time frame is more like several seconds rather than several minutes. An incredible machine, no matter.

Saab's jets were very beautiful. My personal favorite is the Viggen:

Although the Saab Gripen is nice too:

The incredible Mikoyan-Gourevitch MiG-29:

The bizarre MiG-35, which was doing nearly everything the F-22 Raptor is capable of, 15 years ago:

The French Dassault Rafale C:

I could go on and on...

Thats still a lot more than some countries have.

We have pretty damn good beer over here too.

Westsidebilly, Some pretty damn nice pictures.

Isn't the picture you labelled as a MIG 35 a Sukhoi 35 though?
